What the college says

Where is dark matter? What is dark energy? Why can we only account for 4% of the universe? What does the LHC do now that it has discovered the Higgs boson? These are some of the big questions facing Physics today. Maybe you could help find the answers! Physics is the truly universal science. It is the rational development of experiments, observations and theories to explain the fundamental structure of all we perceive, from the smallest subatomic particle to the entire Universe. Physics deals with fundamentals - the nature of space and time, matter and energy, simplicity and complexity. Physics underpins all sciences. Many major developments in chemistry, biology, geology and medicine have been made by physicists. Physics is also the foundation of much modern technology; mobile phones, flat screen televisions and the internet to name but a few!
