What the college says

This course encourages personal, creative and imaginative approaches to photography. You will use techniques and processes to convey messages that relate to professional genres of photography, such as portraiture and documentary photography. You will work in both traditional and digital formats exploring ideas and developing a sense of personal style. You will be expected to have your own camera and be an active photographer seeking out photographic opportunities.

What you need to get on

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 (or equivalent) including Grade 4 in Art or Photography. Experience shows that your chances of success are greater if you have a 4 Grade for English at GCSE. Students who do not have a 4 Grade for English at GCSE are encouraged to consider the BTEC Art and Design course that includes Photography units.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
