Tackle the mysteries of reality, existence, ethics and consciousness in a secular context. Philosophy doesn’t offer easy answers but teaches us to become better thinkers. Learn to be clear and precise in your thinking and writing, to analyse and evaluate arguments of others and to construct your own. Are you prepared to open your mind to see things in a different way? Do you enjoy an academic challenge? If so, Philosophy is for you.

What you need to get on

A minimum of 5 passes (grade 4 or above) at GCSE, including in both English and Maths (not including Level 2 vocational qualifications). Plus a grade 5 in GCSE English Language or English Literature.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
