This one-year vocational BTEC Level 2 Performing and Production Arts Industry Skills course will provide you with a comprehensive foundation for a career in makeup artistry. You will cover skills for performing arts, film, TV, and fashion. The course covers a range of techniques, including: - Editorial and contemporary hair and make-up techniques - Wig styling and fitting - Make-up for performers - Special effects make-up - Making and using prosthetics - Health and safety in the make-up room - Studio etiquette and professionalism - Product, tool, and equipment knowledge - Period hair and make-up - timed and fast-track hair and make-up - Designing and creating costumes and props
What you need to get on
You will need to achieve four GCSEs including English language and maths. The remaining two ideally would include biology, science, art, photography, design or history.
How you are assessed
One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
