Are you aged between 16-18 and looking at pursuing a career in engineering? This full time course, running 3 days a week, is a broad-base course which covers many areas within the large umbrella of Engineering. Depending on your chosen pathway ( Electrical or Mechanical), units covered are, Engineering Principles, Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team, Engineering Product Design and Manufacture, Applied Commercial and Quality Principles in Engineering, Welding Technology, Electronic Devices and Circuits, Computer Aided Design, Electronic Printed Circuit Board Design and Manufacture, Programmable Logic Controllers, Digital/Analogue Electronics, Microcontroller Systems for Engineers, Industrial Robotics, Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems, A Specialist Engineering Project, Maintenance of Mechanical Systems, and Mechanical Principles. This qualification forms the first year of the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering. It combines substantial theoretical learning alongside an opportunity to develop practical work-related skills. It provides a challenging but enjoyable experience for those with an interest in science and maths and a satisfaction in practical applications and problem solving. What you need to get on

If you have recently been in education, the entry requirements are as follows: 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Mathematics, English Language and Science. More mature learners may present a more varied profile of achievement and will be given consideration. Other relevant qualifications and/or appropriate industrial experience will also be considered. All students will sit an initial assessment.
