Take your first step towards a career as a painter and decorator in the construction industry with this very practical qualification. This one year programme will provide you with excellent skills and the confidence to carry out safe working practices in painting and decorating. It covers topics related to painting, decorating and general building and will give learners a basic level of understanding of the skills needed to work in the industry. During the first six weeks of the course you will also get the chance to take part in multi-skills activities and get a taste of bricklaying and carpentry & joinery, as well as health and safety. To be able to continue on the Level 1 course you will need to have good attendance and show a good attitude to learning, as well as complete a health and safety assignment set by tutors. Construction Diplomas are nationally recognized craft qualifications and are accepted in the construction industry. Craft qualifications are in units, which can be studied in any sequence. These qualifications are required for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS). This is a one year course which can be student full-time or part-time.

What you need to get on

To access this course you are required to: Have three or more GCSEs at grade 2 or above (including Maths and English)* Attend an interview with a member of the college's admissions team Complete a short online assessment to determine your current skills and knowledge You will also be expected to commit to good attendance and punctuality and demonstrate a commitment and good attitude to learning and achieving the qualification.
