This is a level 1 employability course that helps to develop young people's personal and social skills and resilience for working life. Young people following this pathway will take a City & Guilds qualification in Employability at level 1 and a City & Guilds qualification in maths and English or a functional skills or GCSE depending on their ability and current qualifications on entry. The programme offers the chance to develop skills for life including home skills and cooking as well as enterprise skills through project based work. There is a strong emphasis on developing social skills and social confidence as well as team work and personal resilience. This course is particularly suitable for young people who have lost their confidence or are unsure about which path they want to take. The highly supportive and small class sizes offers the opportunity to develop self- awareness and self-esteem.

What you need to get on

There are no formal entry requirements but students will need to able to work towards Level 1 in English and maths and have an interest in returning to study/training. Students will need to attend an informal interview and taster day.

How you are assessed

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.

A first step that builds towards Level 2.
