What the college says
The NCTJ-accredited 22-week ‘fast-track’ course has two intakes a year, in February and September. Trainees attend full-time Monday to Thursday (9.30am-5.30pm) and are expected to work Fridays at a work placement on a newspaper or news outlet. These courses run at both our London and Manchester centres. Modules studied include essential journalism, multimedia and video journalism, journalism portfolio, essential media law and court reporting, public affairs, shorthand (teeline) and an optional module in sports journalism or production journalism.
What you need to get on
We are looking for a clear passion and commitment to the industry such as through student media or relevant work experience. We accept applications from mature applicants without formal qualifications, but it is highly desirable that you have some relevant work experience in journalism. If English is not your first language, you must achieve a minimum overall score of 7.0 in the IELTS English language test, including at least 7.0 in the writing component of the test.
