This vocational A LEVEL equivalent course is centred on the practical issues of the music industry. The qualification will have at its core Music Technology through a practical approach. All students study Core Units plus a series of additional optional units. During the course students will study six units of work relating to the music industry: Music Production Techniques _ unit 25 Delivering a Music Product _ unit 9 Live Sound Techniques _ unit 29 Sequencing Systems and Techniques _ unit 32 The Sound and Music Industry _ unit 39 Special Subject Investigation _ unit 43 The year 12 components (Music Production Techniques plus a minimum of two other units) form a single AS level equivalent qualification (Certificate in Music Technology). This can be awarded on completion of the one year course. During year 13 students can undertake the remaining three units in order that they may gain the full Subsidiary Diploma in Music Technology. Students (with necessary help from staff) will, during the course of the programme, consistently attempt to maximise achievements through thorough refinement and appropriate presentation of all units of work. The topics chosen for study may be undertaken in isolation or in conjunction with mutually supporting components.
