What will I learn on this course? COMPONENT 1 (PERFORMING) -An 8 minute public recital on an instrument or voice of your choice. Approximate difficulty standard of grade 7. This is recorded in the Spring Term of Year 13. COMPONENT 2 (COMPOSING) Two compositions, one to a brief set by Edexcel (10% and on either free composition or also to a brief.(20%) Total time across both submissions must be a minimum of 6 minutes. A2 COMPONENT 3 (APPRAISING) You will study 3 set works in 6 different areas of study: Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Music for Film, Popular Music and Jazz, Fusions and New Directions.

What you need to get on

Course requirements 5 GCSE grades at 9 -1 plus a grade 5 minimum in Music GCSE and/or a Theory qualification at a minimum of Grade 5 in order to undertake Music at A-Level. You will also need to be able to perform on an instrument or voice to at least Grade 5. Be able to read treble and bass clef notation with confidence.
