A-level Music enables students to extend their knowledge and understanding of music, to create and develop their own musical ideas and to demonstrate technical, interpretative and communication skills through performing music. A-level Music builds on the knowledge and skills gained from GCSE Music as well as musical experience gained outside the classroom.

What you need to get on

6 grades A*-C including 2 grade Bs; 2 or more of English, Maths and Science at A*-C; grade C or above at GCSE Music. The ability to sing or play an instrument and read music at approximately Grade 5 level is a requirement

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
