The new specifications give candidates a wide range of options within each module. This gives scope for strengths or new interests to be explored and an individualised path created for each candidate that will maximise potential. Good practical skills are an important component of the course, and students need to be well motivated independent learners because Years 12 and 13 are taught in the same option block. The modules focus on Performing, Composing and Listening, as at GCSE, but with much more flexibility of approach so that each student can work to his own strengths and thus gain good grades.
