What the college says

A Level Music will develop a whole range of skills useful in preparing you for your future, such as confidence, oral and written communication, teamwork, presentation, problem solving, analytical, emotional and contextual awareness as well as purely musical talents. The course combines practical challenge and academic rigour and is ideal for the enthusiastic musician who wants to take their studies to a higher level. The Course Performing, composing and listening form the core of the work. At this level, performing takes the form of short video recitals and ideally should be at Grade 6 standard. Composing involves traditional 4-part harmony as well as free composition for instruments and voices. The course is jointly taught with Camp Hill Boys' School and classes are given in a relaxed but studious atmosphere in well-equipped specialist music rooms. Additional Opportunities The keen musician will already be involved in the numerous opportunities for music-making which exist at Camp Hill. Concerts in school and in Birmingham are supplemented by trips and specialist discounts for Symphony Hall events.
