This is a two-year course (AQA). A Level music has a strong element of variety and is a natural progression from GCSE.

What you need to get on

You will need to have an average GCSE grade of 4.5 or above to study on this course. You should have passed GSCE Music at a minimum of Grade 5. A pass at Grade 4 - 5 Theory would be considered as an alternative to GCSE. You should also be at the standard of at least Grade 4 – 5 practical on your main instrument/ voice or be competent at sequencing and multi tracking using Music Technology. Prior knowledge of basic music reading is essential.
