What the college says
The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Music is a two year course equivalent to one A Level. The course has 4 units that enable learners to develop performance and composition skills alongside exploration of the Music Industry in practice. This course is for learners interested in developing their wider musicianship with a view to progressing to ongoing musical study at higher education, apprenticeship or employment. It is designed to be taken as part of a programme of study that includes other BTEC Nationals or A Levels.
What you need to get on
You should have achieved at least grade 4 in Music at GCSE, or completed a Level 2 BTEC First Diploma with a Merit. You must be able to play an instrument or sing to take the course. Grade 4 or above on an instrument and/or private instrumental/singing lessons would be preferable.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
