Develop dance skills to communicate a personal and collective expression of emotion and narrative through a rich mix of vocal and physical language. Work towards sharing your skills through performance. For the autumn term, we will be exploring particular themes - drawing on given images, sound and music and topics of discussion - in a practical research-based process across the twelve weeks of term. Spring and summer term study will also offer opportunities for performance. Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the course learning outcomes. At the start of the course you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e. progression to an advanced-level course.

What you need to get on

Creativity and openness to improvisation are essential for this course. The actual complexity of the generated dance sequences will depend on your personal level and can be adapted. Thus, even if you do not have the best dance technique, you will enjoy and profit from this course.
