What the college says

This course is for anyone who does not already have a GCSE in maths. It is, however, essential that your level of maths is around level 2, which will ensure that you are able to cope with the demands of the course. GCSE courses are highly demanding so you should make sure you have sufficient time to dedicate to study the course, including additional self-guided study outside of class time.

What you need to get on

We would recommend that you have achieved at least level 1 functional skills or a GCSE grade D or 3 before commencing a GCSE maths course. You will be assessed before enrolment in order to ensure that your level is suitable. If the assessment shows that your level is not yet suitable for GCSE, you will be offered advice on which maths course and level you should enrol on, in order to be able to progress to GCSE in the future.

How you are assessed

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.

Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?

Approved for 16 to 18 study on the government's Section 96 list.
