This is a two year A Level course. Mathematics at A-level is both challenging and interesting. As well as drawing on established knowledge, the specification is modern and contemporary. You will develop the ability to reason logically, to generalise and to construct mathematical proofs. The mathematics that you learn will be used to solve problems that are presented in a real life context. You will acquire the skills to use technology such as calculators and computers effectively, recognise when such use may be inappropriate and be aware of the limitations of such technology. In Core Mathematics the topics of algebra and trigonometry are extended and new areas such as calculus are introduced. In Statistics you will learn how to present, analyse and summarise numerical data in order to reach conclusions about the data. Probability is also studied. In Decision students will lean completely new concepts of applied Mathematics which include Algorithms on graphs, the route inspection problem, critical path analysis and linear programming.
