What the college says

A level Maths is split into three parts. Two thirds of the course are Pure Maths. This underpins all of the other branches within A Level Mathematics and builds on many of the topics covered at GCSE. The topics include Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus and Proof. These skills are then applied whilst studying Statistics and Mechanics for the other third of the course.

What you need to get on

Grade 6 or above in GCSE Mathematics AND the recommendation of the GCSE Mathematics teacher. Students are also expected to complete some preparation work over the summer holidays and are to be able to demonstrate sound GCSE algebra skills in the first few weeks of the course.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
