This study programme will provide you with a range of skills, taught in our fully equipped workshops. You will have the opportunity to test your skills and participate in competitions at both national and local level, such as Skill Build and the Suffolk Show. You will have the opportunity to work on a range of local community projects outside the College. The study programme will also develop your personal, social and employability skills and you will receive up to the minute industry knowledge and advice on employability by visiting relevant exhibitions and construction sites. Talks from a wide range of local and national employers will ensure you understand the trade and the skills that they are looking for, but will also give you a good understanding of the various career opportunities and pathways available to you.

What you need to get on

Three GCSEs at Grade 3 including maths and/or English, or a Level 1 qualification plus maths and/or English at Level 1.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
