At the City of Liverpool College, our programme enables you to develop your skills as a professional make-up artist working with performers to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to provide hair and make-up services in the media, theatre, performing arts, fashion and photographic industries. It also provides a sound platform for further learning. We provide you with industry specialist opportunities to aid in the development of your career. As a training make-up artist you will exercise a variety of techniques in the following units; media, special effects and camouflage make-up, how to apply ready-made small prosthetic pieces and bald caps, monitor and maintain health and safety, client care and communication, style and fit a postiche and how to apply the complex skill of airbrush make-up. This course is fast paced, creative and delivered to a strict time scale. You will need to be highly motivated and be able to work positively as a member of a team and independently. You will also undertake some work experience to prepare you for industry. Full attendance is essential for a successful completion of the course. This is an advanced qualification and requires students to have some knowledge of hair and make-up, it is essential for applicants to have a level 2 make up qualification or equivalent. For our Level 2 qualification, please refer back to the hair and beauty section. This course is Advanced Learner Loan eligible, which can fully cover the course fee.
