It is suitable for healthcare support workers, care assistants, domiciliary carers, and anyone working in or entering a hospice, hospital, residential, or community care setting. You do not need previous experience in end of life care to apply. The course is delivered through a mix of in-person sessions in Leeds, Bradford, and Wakefield, plus online study you can fit around your life. You will complete the qualification in 12 weeks through a portfolio of evidence covering five units: understanding end of life care, communication in end of life settings, holistic assessment and care planning, person-centred symptom management, and care during the final hours of life and bereavement. If you meet the eligibility criteria, the course is funded for you. To be eligible you must live in the West Yorkshire Combined Authority area, be aged 19 or over, have the right to work and study in the UK, and meet one of the following: be unemployed and in receipt of qualifying benefits, be economically inactive, or be employed and earning below the relevant income threshold.
