You would be suitable for this course if you are interested in taking GCSE Mathematics topics in more depth and drawing upon a range of techniques to solve more difficult and unstructured problems. There is a focus on Algebra throughout the course and it is vital you are strong in this aspect to be successful. The course also introduces new areas of mathematics and uses applications to model and solve real world situations. Mathematics at post 16 level is best suited to students who have gained a grade 6 or above at GCSE higher tier. This course combines well with further study or work in areas such as Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Business, Economics and Psychology.

What you need to get on

A minimum of 5 subjects at Grade 4 or above, including at least one of GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics. A minimum of a grade 7 in GCSE Mathematics

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
