You would be suitable for this course if you take a positive interest in current affairs, watch the news or read a quality newspaper. Economics essentially looks at choices and how individuals, governments and businesses make them, and what the consequences of making those decisions are. For example, will road pricing reduce congestion? Will the UK benefit by joining the EMU? This course combines well with Business Studies, Geography, History, other Social Sciences and especially Mathematics.

What you need to get on

A minimum of 5 subjects at Grade 4 or above, including at least one of GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics. A minimum of a grade 5 in GCSE English Language/Literature and Mathematics

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
