What the college says

Why choose Health and Social Care? Whilst it is often in the news for its struggles with budget cuts and the challenges of an ageing population, the NHS remains one of our best-loved institutions and one of our biggest employers. Increasingly, the private sector has a role to play and employment opportunities may be with organisations in this sector. This course will give you good background knowledge of the principles of care generally and also with patients who have specific conditions. Students studying Health and Social Care may be offered the opportunity to go out on placement. Health and Social Care would sit nicely with other A-Level options including Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy and Ethics and English Language. We would expect students to progress to employment via Advanced Apprenticeship, or Higher Education with degrees in Nursing, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Occupational Therapy, Dental Nursing, Public Health, Health Studies and others being possible destinations. We may be able to offer both an Extended Certificate (equivalent to one A Level) and a Diploma (equivalent to two A Levels) depending on demand.
