What the college says
This course will enable you to develop knowledge and understanding of a broad range of health and social care services and careers within different settings. It includes units which explore contemporary health topics, such as: equality, diversity and rights, anatomy, health, diet and nutrition, alongside career planning. At the same time, you will be extending your skills in communication and interpersonal interaction.
What you need to get on
Ideally some work experience in a health and social care setting. Although you do not need it to complete the course, we recommend some voluntary work or a part-time position alongside, prior to applying to Access. No formal qualifications are needed, however, English and Maths functional skills or ESOL are welcome. You must demonstrate enthusiasm and a commitment to the course.
How you are assessed
Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
