This course provides the practical skills and underpinning knowledge required to begin a career in the plumbing industry. It is based on the City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Diploma in Plumbing Studies (8202) and is designed to develop your ability to install, maintain and repair domestic plumbing systems in line with industry standards. Units covered include: * Health and safety in a construction environment * Principles of plumbing science * Cold water systems * Hot water systems * Central heating systems * Sanitation systems * Above ground drainage Training takes place in purpose-built workshops and classrooms, combining hands-on practical work with theory sessions to build your confidence and competence in plumbing tasks.

What you need to get on

* 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above * Level 1 Plumbing qualification You will be interviewed for this course and should demonstrate an interest in practical work, theory learning, and a commitment to health and safety.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
