This qualification is ideal for learners who are interested in pursuing a career in the sports industry and will help kick start you on the right path. Across the year you will study core and optional modules in a range of sports related topics to give you a good foundation to then build on. You will study a range of practical based units where you can work on personal skills as well as developing others, and you will look also look at a range of theory units that are important in developing practical abilities. You will also have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications in first aid, which will enable you to access employment in this area. Why BCA? What you need to get on

Five GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English or maths at grade 4 or Level 1 Diploma in Sport with a minimum of a Merit, with GCSE English or maths at grade 4. All applicants must successfully complete an academic interview.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
