This qualification is for those individuals who are looking to work in the transport industry specifically as a light vehicle technician. A light vehicle technician has the skills and knowledge to inspect, service and repair light vehicles. Learners will gain an understanding of the skills and knowledge that are important when working as a light vehicle technician or progressing to further learning and training in this area. This qualification has been designed with the involvement of a range of technical subject matter experts and employers to ensure it meets the needs of the occupation. What you need to get on

You will be interviewed for this course, you should be enthusiastic about working in the Automotive maintenance service and repair sector and able to participate in manual work experience. It is advisable for you to carry out research into the role prior to interview.

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
