Are you interested in exploring what the media sector has to offer? This one-year course is designed to give you a general overview of what media is and the skills you need to succeed.This qualification gives you the opportunity to develop a range of practical skills used within the sector as well as developing your research skills, critical thinking and reflection skills. The knowledge and skills you’ll develop over the year will be developed by a series of projects focusing on different areas of the media sector.The Level 2 Extended Certificate is equivalent to two GCSEs. To support your main study programme, personal and professional development and work experience, you will also resit your English Language or Maths GCSE.

What you need to get on

You will need at least four 3 grades or above at GCSE, along with a minimum grade 4 in either English Language or Maths.

How you are assessed

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
