This course is ideal for individuals over 16 who have an interest in the human body and its relation to health and fitness. It is also suitable for those looking to progress onto the YMCA Level 3 Personal Training course or pursue a career in the health and fitness industry, with the aim of becoming a fitness instructor and Personal Trainer.

What you need to get on

To enrol in this course, you are required to have 4 GCSEs at grades 3-9, preferably including English, Maths, and P.E. You must have a genuine interest in Health and Fitness, with a view to gaining employment in the Fitness Industry. You will be able to choose one of the following academies on your application: Athletics, Basketball, Football, Tennis, Boxing, Flag Football, or Women?s Rugby. While it is ideal to have previous experience playing competitive sports, not necessary.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
