What the college says
This course is ideal those between 16-18 and considering a career as a veterinary nurse, but have not yet achieved the English and Maths grades for an apprenticeship.
What you need to get on
Employed, or in a work placement, caring for either cats, dogs, rabbits or horses. This may be working as an assistant in a veterinary practice, animal rescue facility, boarding kennels, cattery, riding school or on a college farm. GCSE Science grade 3 or higher, GCSE English grade 4 or higher OR GCSE Maths grade 4 or higher (students must have either GCSE English or GCSE maths at grade 4 and the other must be a grade 3).
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?
Not on the Section 96 list, but a school or college runs it full time, so check the age range with them.
