This qualification is for learners who are working towards a relevant Apprenticeship standard, and who are looking to advance to a higher-level qualification/Apprenticeship. Learners will develop the skills and underpinning knowledge required for employment and/or career progression in the engineering and manufacturing industry sector in general. As an Engineering Operations student you will take part in hands-on lessons where you will learn how to perform basic engineering skills. We will introduce you to engineering theory and help develop your understanding of engineering processes, tools and equipment. You will cover topics where you will learn more about health and safety, engineering processes and also how to interpret engineering drawings in your work.

What you need to get on

For entry to this programme, you will require Grade 4 GCSE or above in English and Maths. You must have a keen interest in Engineering and a good work ethic. You must be able to work alone and as part of a team and be able to demonstrate commitment to the course.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
