Esports is defined as organised competitive gaming. If you are over 16 years old and have an interest in Esports, then the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Esports at Barnet and Southgate College may be the course for you. This qualification is aimed at learners who are looking to progress to employment in the esports industry, possibly via an apprenticeship in a related industry, or whose aspirations may also be to progress to Further Education such as the BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Esports, Information Technology, Creative Media, Sport, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship or Business. The qualification is endorsed by The British Esports Association as being suitable for learners wanting to work in this industry ? this means that it will be recognised by employers in a range of roles.

What you need to get on

To get on this course you are required to have 4 GCSEs at grades 8/9 - 3 (A*- D), preferably including English, Maths and P.E. Alternatively, you should have a BTEC Level 1 Diploma with Level 1 Functional Skills English and Maths. It would be ideal that you have previous experience playing competitive gaming however, not necessary to secure a placement on the course.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
