This course will help you to develop your knowledge of a number of theoretical subjects, such as anatomy and physiology, nutrition, fitness and exercise. You will also develop and apply practical related skills through modules such as practical sport and sports coaching. Alongside the programme, you will represent the College and Burton Albion Community Trust within the EFL Trust National League. You will get the chance to train and play on Burton Albion Community Trust’s state of the art 3G pitch. During your studies, you will have access to the College’s fully equipped gym, Fleet Street Fitness, as well as the opportunity to take part in activities at Shobnall Leisure Complex. You will also have the opportunity to work with surrounding schools, local clubs and our partners such as Burton Albion Community Trust and St. George’s Park. During the course, you will be challenged to organise a number of events, develop your teamwork skills and build your confidence to prepare you for your next steps. As part of your programme, you will participate in a number of varied enrichment activities, trips and visits. Real life environment assessments are a feature within the qualification. Learners have access to our gym facilities at Fleet Street Fitness. The space is used weekly for delivery, assessment and personal fitness development. *Due to the competition structure, this course is only available for 16-19 year olds.

What you need to get on

Applicants will be expected to have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or an equivalent qualification. All applicants will also be required to attend and complete a successful trial with Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT).

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
