This Level 2 ESOL course is designed to help you develop your English skills and build confidence using the language in everyday situations, as well as in education and the workplace. Throughout the course, you will focus on three key areas: Reading - You will practise reading a variety of practical, real-world texts, including formal letters, leaflets, newsletters, and newspaper articles, as well as fiction such as short stories. You will learn to identify different text types, their purposes, and key features. In addition, you will develop a range of reading strategies to understand main ideas, find important details, recognise the writers attitude, and work out meaning from context. Writing - You will learn to produce a range of written texts, such as emails, blog posts, articles, and narratives, across different topics. The course will support you in organising your writing, selecting an appropriate level of formality, and improving your grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Speaking and Listening - This part of the course will help you become both a confident speaker and an effective listener. You will take part in discussions on a variety of topics and deliver short informative talks to small groups. You will practise group conversations, asking and answering questions, sharing opinions, and responding to others. You will also listen to short recordings to identify the main ideas and key details. What you need to get on
Entry Level (Foundation) - No formal entry requirements but you will need to pass an assessment test to demonstrate you are suitable for this level.
How you are assessed
Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
