Please note, places on this course are prioritised for 16–18-year-old learners. Adult applications will be considered once these have been filled. The Level 2 Automotive course is a 1-year full-time course that comprises of a Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma in Automotive Maintenance and Repair. The course is dedicated to giving the learner the ability to carry out Maintenance and Repair on the main Vehicle components and systems. This course is designed to enable the student to be able to remove and refit components and have a good understanding of the vehicle systems and how they work.

What you need to get on

You will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades A*-D including English and maths at grades 9-3 (formerly A*-D) and ideally Science or Resistant Materials. Alternatively, successful completion of a relevant Level 1 Certificate or Diploma Automotive qualification and have achieved a Level 1 Functional Skill in English and maths.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
