This is a full-time, hands-on course designed to prepare learners for employment or progression within the painting and decorating trade. The course combines classroom-based theory with extensive practical work, providing learners with real-world skills in surface preparation, painting, wallcovering application, and health and safety in a construction environment. Key units covered include: Health and safety in a construction environment Principles of working in the construction industry Surface preparation for decoration Application of paints and wallcoverings Working with access equipment Learners will complete a formal synoptic practical assignment over 15 hours, based on a realistic decorating scenario involving the preparation and finishing of walls, ceilings, doors, and trim to industry standards. The course is assessed through a combination of online multiple-choice exams and internally marked practical assignments.

4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above � Level 1 Painting and Decorating qualification You will be interviewed for this course and should show an interest in practical construction work, classroom studies and a willingness to follow strict health and safety protocols.

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
