What the college says

This course is an introduction to the Engineering industry and you will study maths and English alongside, whilst developing the knowledge and skills required to support routes into employment or higher levels of study. You will develop skills in making engineering components using hand tools, using a bench/pedestal drilling machine, joining materials using welding, wiring electrical circuits and components, planning and making a machined product and routine servicing of mechanical equipment and electronic systems.

What you need to get on

2 GCSE passes at a minimum of Grade 3, which must include a Grade 2 and 3 in English Language or Literature and Maths, in either combination.

How you are assessed

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.

What this level means

A first step that builds towards Level 2.
