This Level 1 ESOL course is here to help you improve your English and feel more confident using it in all areas of everyday life, education, and work. During the course, you'll work on three main areas: Reading - Youll practise reading practical, real-life texts like formal letters, leaflets, newsletters, and newspaper articles as well as fiction such as short stories. Youll learn to recognise different types and purposes of texts and their main features. You will learn to apply a range of reading strategies to understand the main message, locate important details, identify the authors attitude and figure out the meaning from context. Writing - Youll learn how to write a range of texts such as emails, blog posts, articles, narratives etc, on different topics. Well help you with structuring your texts, choosing the right level of formality, improving different aspects of your grammar as well as spelling and punctuation. Speaking and Listening - This part of the course will help you become an active listener and a confident speaker. You will be able to contribute during discussions on various topics and do short informative talks in front of a small groups. Youll practise small group conversations, asking and answering questions, expressing opinions and responding to others, listening to short recordings for main message and important details. Entry Level (Foundation) - No formal entry requirements but you will need to pass an assessment test to demonstrate you are suitable for this level.
