The department supports learners with a learning disability or difficulty to prepare them for either independent living or supported employment. Each learner will have an individual/bespoke learning plan and curriculum timetable to suit their individual needs and interests. You will study areas in your individual learning plan. These may include the following: Employability skills. Personal and social development. Functional skills in numeracy, literacy and ICT. Independent living skills. Vocational Options: Art and Design Sport Catering Retail Animal Care Horticulture Hair and Beauty Construction crafts ICT and Creative Media Real Life work Experience opportunities in: Café/Catering (in-house) Shop/Retail Other placements with College and with external employers in various settings. Additional: Volunteering opportunities. Community projects. Enrichment opportunities. Learning and social support can be provided and support with travel training. You will work towards an accredited entry Level and Level 1 study programme and follow a personalised time table. There are four steps which enable you to begin at a suitable starting point and progress to achieve your personal goals. Step 1: for those students with complex additional needs. Step 2: programmes designed to support students looking to develop their independent living skills.
