What the college says

If you're curious about how the legal system works and passionate about justice, fairness and society, A Level Law at South Devon College could be the perfect choice for you. This fascinating course gives you a powerful insight into the English legal system and its vital role in everyday life - from the courtroom to Parliament, and beyond. Over two years, you’ll explore both criminal and civil law, diving into key legal concepts and philosophical ideas such as morality, justice, fairness and the rule of law. You’ll examine how laws are made and applied, and study real-life cases to understand how legal decisions shape the world we live in. This course builds essential skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and logical argument, all of which are highly valued in both higher education and the workplace. You'll develop your ability to construct persuasive arguments, evaluate evidence, and reach sound conclusions - skills that are key in legal professions and many other careers. Your learning will be enhanced through guest lectures from legal professionals, visits to courts and universities, and the opportunity to see law in action. Many of our students go on to study law at university, begin legal apprenticeships, or train as Chartered Legal Executives. Others use their legal knowledge in careers in policing, criminology, business, politics, or teaching.
