On this course, you will learn about the important issues surrounding our legal system including why we have certain laws, who is involved in the legal system and how the law affects us all! For example, do you know the difference between a solicitor and barrister? There are three exam papers for A Level Law which focus on Criminal Law; Tort Law and Contract Law. Each paper also tests elements of the English Legal System. To help you in your studies, you will visit local courts and see the law in action. If you like reading and debating, then this course will stimulate you and demonstrate your ability to present reasoned arguments in order to reach a sustainable conclusion. You will be prepared for the academic training necessary to study Law at university and for employment in the legal sector. Topics include: The importance of the legal system, Concepts of law, Who is Involved in the legal system, What power EU law has over English law, Criminal and civil law, . All 16-19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and Maths or to undertake Functional Skills, if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade C in these subjects, every year of their course, until they complete their studies.
