The study of law helps develop the learner’s analytical ability and critical thinking. It also develops problem solving skills through the application of legal rules. Study at AS/A2 level provides a useful background for the further study of many courses at degree level and acts as an introduction to the legal system for students thinking of law as a career. Students studying law can access a range of other job roles such as journalism, teaching and consultancy as well as the legal profession.

What you need to get on

Law is a difficult subject which involves a lot of reading and a lot of writing therefore it is essential that students have at least a 5 in English and one other humanities subject (such as history) as well as three other GCSEs at 5 or above.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
