Law
at Great Sankey High School, Warrington · school or sixth form
What the college says
We are all in daily contact with the 'law' in its many forms and most people believe that it is a necessary part of our lives and of our society. The course attracts students with varying ambitions not just those who are looking towards reading law or related subjects at university. This is due to the fact that the course develops many transferrable skills valued in higher education such as critical and logical thinking and reasoning to analysis and problem solving. Law is a highly regarded subject both with universities and employers. Although not a specific requirement to study law at university, A level Law will provide students with a foundation in 4 of the 7 core modules of a qualifying law degree. Someone who has spent two years obtaining the qualification knows the demands of the subject and is therefore more likely to complete a course at university and has already started to develop the necessary study and subject related skills. A level Law compliments the study of subjects such as English Literature, History, Philosophy and Ethics, Sociology and Psychology but can be combined with Science and Maths courses also.
