What the college says

This course assumes you have studied French for about a year and can cope in first contact situations and communicate simply in the language using the present tense. During this course, you will develop your language skills to be able to use a limited range of simple words and sentences to form statements and questions in familiar situations, giving a short talk on a familiar topic using present and past timeframes to a limited extent. You will work towards the SEG Awards (Skills and Education Group) Level 1 Award in French . This involves compiling a small portfolio of assessments done in class which will then be internally and externally verified. All fees include the cost of this accreditation.

What you need to get on

You should have at least 1 year of study of French. Learners should already be able to communicate simply in French using the present tense. You should be able to meet and greet another French speaker, giving and asking for a few personal details and order food and drink in a Café/Restaurant. You will also be able to cope with simple travel information. You should also be able to read, write and understand very basic French.
