Land-Based Technicians will carry out a range of tasks on land-based machinery equipment. The job role ranges from routine maintenance to repairing mechanical faults. This requires a blend of skills, industry knowledge and disciplines. These may include performing service and maintenance, preparing equipment and components for repair according to procedures or written briefs, conducting routine machine operation and systems testing, and handing over machinery and equipment to the control and use of others in the workplace. The industry will present technical challenges ranging from simple mechanics to diagnosing and repairing complex systems. These processes may take place in the workplace or on the customer�s site, requiring flexible working hours. On our City & Guilds Level 2 Technical Certificate in Land-based Engineering you will study the following disciplines:- health & safety at work, engine operation, transmissions, hydraulics, vehicle electrics, fabrication, work shop practices, machinery operations & working in the land-based engineering industry.

What you need to get on

Achieve 4 GCSE's at grade 3 or above , including English Language and maths.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
