Do you want to work with animals, maybe specifically horses? Are you resilient enough to deal with often upsetting situations while caring for animals, in all kinds of weather? If so, this course could be for you. If you want to pursue a career in the animal and/or equine industry and have limited experience with animals and or horses this is an excellent place to start. You will work alongside industry experts weekly in the first-class facilities at Rand Farm Park. This course will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress to the Level Two Technical Certificate in Animal Care or Horse Care. To become good at what you do, practice is essential, therefore you will participate in daily animal care; horse care; and farm skills such as mucking out, feeding and tidying the farm. This work will be supervised by the college staff and you will be given advice and help on how to improve your work skills. During this course, you’ll learn: Being organised Developing a personal progression plan Working with others; Researching a topic Finding out about the land-based sector Caring for and feeding animals Moving and accommodating animals Using workshop tools in a land-based setting Growing produce Working with horses.
