"Over five weekly sessions, learners will gain the technical knowledge and creative skills to transform everyday point-and-click photos into high quality images using their smartphone camera app. Throughout the course, learners will identify and explore the 10 modes of shooting available in the Smartphone Camera App, expand visual literacy with the application of fundamental compositional techniques, develop observational skills in assessing the differing qualities of available light, explore practical methods of approach for photographing people and places, and digitally edit images using in-app controls to build a themed portfolio/picture-set. Series Schedule: Week 1: Introducing the Smartphone Camera App: 10 Modes of filming Week 2: Composition – Using the Frame ( nature shoot ) Week 3: Assessing the Quality of Available Light ( urban shoot ) Week 4: Social Photography: People and Places ( indoor / outdoor ) Week 5: Image Editing (1): in-App Digital Editing and Creating Picture Sets Resources: The Powerpoint deck for each session will be made available via Google Class and an A4 handout detailing the key points will be distributed in-class. Individual Learning Plans will be offered in digital and electronic form, with a weekly update at the end of each session."
