This course is aimed at students who are at Entry 1 level in all areas and wish to promote their emotional wellbeing. This would be through developing basic social communication and understanding, knowledge and understanding of the world and supported vocational employment skills including independently completing structured tasks. There would be support to transition to next placements at the end of this course including short link courses and visits. Each year modules are included in the areas of communication, functional numeracy, ICT, environment and community, home management, the world of work, personal skills and creative arts. This curriculum involves developing many practical skills: using schedules to develop independence in cooking, shopping, cleaning, leisure activities, horticulture and animal care. A continued focus on functional communication and maths skills are incorporated in the work which occurs both on and off site to generalise skills and understanding. Speech and language therapy support and OT support is provided as part of the curriculum . Regular parent events are provided to assist with move to next setting and transition support is provided .
